The [[Dirndl]] is the [[Dirndl Brand]] of the [[:de:Pielachtal]] in the seductive [[:de:Mostviertel]].

This likeable and tasty little fruit of the yellow dogwood (Cornus mas) is with its strange-looking female products, an ancient gift of our ancestors.
It ripens from mid-August.

About the Dirndl fruit, the 'Dirndl Perennials "and the adventurous history of thousands of years cultivated there is much to learn, taste and see - here in the Valley of the Dirndl. The Dirndl is also called olive of the North.

Dirndl have when fully ripe a wide color spectrum.

They can be dark (almost black), light red and yellow.

This demonstrates the many varieties that owns the [[Dirndl valley]]. How many Dirndl perennials we really have, we can only estimate more, but we expect a handsome three-digit number.

The very early Dirndl bloom is long before the leaves emerge

* Fruit load with Dirndln
**Thousands of black red fruits in the size of Rosehip bring the flexible branches in distress. In late August, the dirndl full maturity can be admired in the [[:de:Pielachtal]]. The nature guide in the [[Dirndl valley]] will show you where!

* Growth form the Dirndl
** Dirndl shrubs are called in the [[:de:Pielachtal]] Dirndl perennials, but are actually large shrubs that can reach a ripe old age. In rare cases, they grow tree-like, but usually much stocky. Some of the very old specimens were here since the time of Maria Theresa. According to adventurous are the gnarled branches and growth habits. By the Dirndl-Caching one can track the most beautiful Dirndl perennials!

==Healthy and thermophilic==

The dirndl is a wonderful metaphor for healthy and sustainable lifestyle. But it is thermophilic what remains even at the low winter temperatures of the alpine region and does not suffer from frosts still on insect pests.

It is seen seasonal, early riser and blooms so early in the year that often still snow falls on the flowers, without causing damage could occur.

Dirndl plants are fresh air fanatics. In the dense forest they care, but the airy bodies of Dirndl valley´s cultural landscape they are vital for centuries and can develop into true Methuselah.

==Are rivalry with the Dirndl?==

Food production has probably stand (on moral grounds) in agriculture in the first place. 
With our wild fruits of the Dirndl quality food is produced.
For this reason you can not be a "space competitor".

Further the Dirndl is growing because of its adequacy and sufficiency very often at '' '"marginal product" areas.' '' See the picture on the right. 
These are mostly south-facing slopes, as well as terrain with rocky ground. Even the slope of a site you do not mind, but rather where they are harvested!. 
The main thing is: the thermal sum fits to fruits.

Because of its profound roots and survival strategy (like fruit dropping in water shortage) has the Dirndl shrub in many places sufficient water supply, where many other plants and shrubs may not prosper any more.

The observed resistance to dryness is probably attributable to the fine root system, similar to the birch. The leaves will be slightly less in these circumstances and may easily curl. Nevertheless, the Dirndl grows on these "marginal areas" quite good.

It can be assumed that they would produce something larger, juicy fruits, if the same plants were planted on well-supplied with nutrients and water bottoms.

We are talking about the 300 Dirndl valley´s wild forms (species) and not about the demanding Dirndl varieties.
