It is the representation of the life of Christ with scenes from the New Testament. Almost all figures (130 pieces) are moved.

==Background of the Sanctuary of Mariazell==

The basilica is dedicated to the nativity of Maria.

The St. Lambrecht Magnus Monk brought a carved by on his own statue in the area of Mariazell. When he was already close to the target, suddenly a boulder blocked his way. Then he turned to the Holy Maria for help. At once split the rock and allowed the monk to continue his route. So he crossed to the finish line and placed the statue on a tree stump, which is present in the altar today.
